I took my first solo trip to Hong Kong a year before my wedding. I was very impressed by the skyscrapers that lined the city center, which had a different charm during the day and at night. Due to limited time, I only visited Tsim Sha Tsui and Central, and the furthest I went was to the small fishing village of Repulse Bay in the south. I experienced the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong and its tranquility.

第一次到香港自助旅行是結婚前一年，對於香港市區林立的摩天大樓印象非常深刻，白天與晚上各有不同風情。由於時間有限所以這次的旅遊點局限於尖沙咀與中環，最遠則到南方的小漁村─赤柱，分別體驗了香港繁華與閒適。

On a weekend during my training in Bangkok, Thailand, I decided to take a walk around the city's famous Grand Palace area. I was surprised to find that the most attractive things in the Grand Palace area were the temples and pagodas, which are a testament to Thailand's Buddhist heritage. The Wat Pho Temple, which is located near the Grand Palace, is also a must-see. It is home to the largest reclining Buddha in Southeast Asia, which is just right for the rectangular temple.

到泰國曼谷受訓時的一個週末，決定到市區著名的皇宮區走一走。想不到皇宮區裡最吸引人的竟是一座一座的廟宇與佛塔，真不愧是一個以佛教立國的國家。皇宮附近的涅盤寺也是不能錯過的地方，這裡有座東南亞最大的臥佛，整個佛寺呈長方形剛好容納祂。

In the fall of 1992, I was accepted to the UCSD graduate program, beginning my one-and-a-half-year academic career in San Diego. My Konica RF camera, which I had inherited from my father, was no longer sufficient, so I purchased my first SLR camera, a Pentax K1000, with the recommendation of my English teaching assistant. After six months of research, I upgraded to a Pentax Z1 camera and switched from Kodak Gold film to Kodak Elite color negative film. My photography subjects also began to move beyond simple souvenir photos.

San Diego has a Mediterranean climate and abundant sunshine, making it a popular vacation destination. From north to south, the city's famous attractions include UCSD, La Jolla Beach, Sea World, Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo, Downtown, and Coronado Island. The U.S.-Mexico border is located further south.

92年秋天申請到UCSD的碩士班，開始了我聖地牙哥一年半的求學生涯。由於從父親手中所帶來的Konica RF相機已經不敷使用，在英文助教的介紹下購入了我的第一台單眼相機Pentax K1000。 經過了半年的鑽研，相機進步到了Pentax Z1，底片也從柯達金軟片換成了柯達Elite正片，攝影主題也正式跳脫了單純的紀念照模式。

聖地牙哥屬地中海型氣候，和徐的陽光讓她成為度假勝地。著名的景點從北到南有UCSD、Ja Jolla Beach、Sea World、Babola、San Diego Zoo、Downtown與Coronado半島等，再往南就是美墨邊境了。
